12/22/21: Town of Sellersburg Street Department has been working on St. Joe Road East, installing new signage poles and rumble warning strips. This is in preparation for the intersection of St. Joe Rd. East and Alabama Avenue to become to a 3-way stop.
On Tuesday, December 28, 2021, STOP signage will be installed in accordance with Ordinance Number 2021-OR-28.
Please be mindful of this change as you travel St. Joe Rd. East at Alabama Avenue beginning 12/28/21.
The Town of Sellersburg Town Hall and Billing Offices will be closed the following days to observe the Christmas and New Year’s Holidays:
-December 24, 2021 (Christmas Eve)
-December 27, 2021 (Christmas Day Observed)
-December 31, 2021 (New Years Day Observed)
Trash Collection Schedule:
-Friday, December 24th trash collection will be collected on Thursday, December 23rd. Monday, December 27th trash will collected as normal.
-Friday, December 31st trash collection will be collected on Thursday, December 30th.
Town Council Meeting
The second Town Council Meeting in December has been moved from Monday, December 27th to Tuesday, December 28th at 6pm to adjust for Town’s Christmas Day Observed Holiday on the 27th.
The week of December 6th will be the last week for yard waste collection for 2021 growing season. The Town will do a pickup of Live Christmas Trees the week of January 3rd. Normal bi-weekly yard waste collection will start again in March of 2022.
Town of Sellersburg Yard Waste Collection Information
Yard Waste is collected on recycling days March through around mid-October.
Around mid-October, the town collects leaves weekly through around the first week of December. There is no limit to this service, but we encourage mulching or composting leaves, if at all possible. Please note, open burning in the Town of Sellersburg is NOT permitted. In addition, please DO NOT blow leaves or grass clippings into the street. Leaves and grass clippings need to be placed in recyclable bags for collection on yard waste day.
Please be aware of the weight of containers because they are manually handled by the collection crew. DO NOT PLACE DIRT, ROCK, CONCRETE, ANIMAL WASTE, TRASH, PLASTIC, OR ANY OTHER NON-VEGETATIVE MATERIALS in yard waste containers. Any of these materials will result in non-collection.
Governor Eric Holcomb and Indiana Department of Transportation Commissioner Joe McGuinness today announced Community Crossings award recipients.
A total of 218 Indiana cities, towns, and counties received a combined $101.9 million in state matching funds for local road projects.
“Community Crossings continues to have a transformative effect on communities across Indiana” Governor Holcomb said. “The partnership between the state and local governments is empowering Hoosier cities, towns and counties to invest more and take on bigger projects than ever before to modernize their local transportation systems to meet the demand of our growing economy.”
The Town of Sellersburg received the maximum amount available of $1,000,000.
“Receiving these CCMG funds at this level continues to show the commitment this council has to improve the Town” Council President Brad Amos said. “This Council is ‘TEAM SELLERSBURG’ and this group’s community minded attitude towards making improvements to this Town is like nothing I’ve ever seen… We all work great together, it shows!”
Since its inception in 2016, the Community Crossing Initiative has provided more than $1 billion in state matching funds for local construction projects.
“Community Crossings is one of the most important tools available to our local partners to support their efforts to improve local roads and bridges,” INDOT Commissioner Joe McGuinness said. “Rebuilding and improving local roads, while also addressing safety needs, promotes growth and enhances the business environment and quality of place across Indiana.”
To qualify for funding, local governments must provide local matching funds, 50 percent for larger communities or 25 percent for smaller communities, from a funding source approved for road and bridge construction. The Town of Sellersburg is a 25 percent community.
Communities must also submit an INDOT-approved asset management plan for maintaining existing roads and bridges.

Tuesday November 2nd, Town Manager Charlie Smith will be hosting Forum @ 5 at Wilkerson Park from 5:00-6:30pm. Wilkerson Park is located at the corner of New Albany Street and Utica Street in Sellersburg.
This is an informal opportunity to come for friendly conversations related to Town business or just to enjoy the park!
This will be the final Forum @ 5 for 2021. Forum @ 5 will pick back up in Spring of 2022.

The Town of Sellersburg Council and Redevelopment Commission are proud to announce the Town of Sellersburg Façade Improvement Grant.
The Façade Improvement Grant program is funded through the Economic Redevelopment (RDC) or through such other means determined reasonable by the Town Council based on the specific application at the request of the RDC to the Town Council. Eligible projects include exterior general building and property improvements, for example: exterior painting or repairs, masonry repair and tuckpointing, exterior structural rehabilitation, roof replacement, windows/doors/storefronts, signage, awnings, and landscaping. Projects may include parking area surfacing/resurfacing and repair if this work is not the only work performed within the project.
Projects that encompass capital investments above and beyond general building/property improvements are encouraged and preferred. All improvements must comply with the Town of Sellersburg zoning and building regulations and be approved by the Town of Sellersburg Plan Commission and/or the Building Commissioner as required. Those businesses within the Downtown, Gateway Overlay, and Town Center Districts are eligible to apply a this time.

On Monday, February 22, 2021 the Town Council will be reading ordinances related to Water and Sewer usage rates. Council meetings are the 2nd and 4th Monday of every month beginning at 6pm at Town Hall located at 316 E. Utica Street across from the Post Office. Meetings are open to the public.

If you would like to make comments to the council related to Town business, you are able to do so in person during public comment portion of the council meeting.
The Town of Sellersburg is three separate financial units: Civil Government, Sellersburg Wastewater Utility, and Sellersburg Water Utility. Each unit relies on operational and improvement funds that are raised from very specific sources.

This slide show was presented to the Town Council at the June 28th council meeting. The information contained within the slides provides a high level overview of some of the large projects being planned in and around the Town of Sellersburg.
Some of the projects are specific to INDOT while others are being performed by the Town of Sellersburg. Even still, some of them are through a partnership of the Town, INDOT, and/or private owners for the betterment of the general public.
While this provides insight to some of the projects that are underway, it is not a complete list of everything the Town is working on. Other project plans being finalized include watermain replacements, drainage structure improvements/repairs, and park improvements.
As the Town of Sellersburg continues to grow, one of the largest feedbacks from residents is the need for improved grocery options.
