Understanding Your Responsibility:
Many residents are not aware that they are responsible for the maintenance and repair of the water service line from the water meter to house and sewer lines from the house to where it is tapped into the sewer main. These repairs are not covered by the Town of Sellersburg, and most basic homeowners’ insurance policies do not cover repairs that may be needed due to age, roots, etc. The Town’s area of responsibility are watermains and water service lines from the main to the water meter. For sewer, we maintain the sewer mains and pumpstations within the collection system.
Sellersburg has partnered with SLWA, an independent company, that offers optional protection plans for the water and sewer service lines that connect your home to our systems and your interior plumbing and drains. This program is designed to help homeowners prepare for the unexpected cost of a home repair emergency.

To assist homeowners, we have partnered with SLWA to make available voluntary service plans. Key features of the program include:
• Voluntary Enrollment: Participation is completely optional. We are making these plans available as a potential solution for residents. Declining to enroll in the program will not affect your utility service.
• Convenient Service: Plan holders have access to a 24-hour repair hotline to schedule a covered repair. SLWA will dispatch a local licensed contractor to handle your covered repair.
• No Deductibles: The plans from SLWA have no deductible or service fees on covered repairs, and repairs are guaranteed for one year.
We encourage you to review BOTH your homeowner’s insurance service plan details to determine if a plan from SLWA is a good choice for your household. You may also want to check with your homeowner’s insurance provider to see if similar coverage is available.
