Please join us for a special Memorial Day Ceremony
at 11:00am at Wilkerson Park located at the corner of
New Albany and Utica Street.
This event is produced by the American Legion Post #204
in a partnership with the Town of Sellersburg and our local Boy Scout Troops; Troop 6 & Troop 7.
Sellersburg Town Councilman Terry Langford will be the guest speaker at the Memorial Day Ceremony. Councilman Langford will be speaking regarding his Uncle, Army Private Norman “Half-Pint” Langford, who was killed in action in WWII but whose remains were only recently identified from a mass grave in St. Croix, France. DNA testing submitted by Councilman Langford confirmed his Uncle’s identity.
Army Private Norman “Half-Pint” Langford was killed on July 26, 1944 as part of Operation Cobra near St. Lo, France. He was 19 at the time of his death. Half-Pint Langford was one of 14 Town residents KIA in WWII. Army Private Langford is being prepped to be sent back home to the Town of Sellersburg.
The intersection of E. Utica and New Albany Street will be closed at 10:45am until the end of the ceremony around 12:30pm.
