SELLERSBURG TOWN COUNCIL MEETING 

May 14, 2007

 

TOWN COUNCIL MEETING:

The Sellersburg Town Council met on May 14, 2007 at the Sellersburg Town Hall. Present were Vice President Michael N. Lockhart, Council Member Michael J. Hostetler, Council Member Douglas C. Pixley, Council Member Paul J. Rhodes, Town Attorney William P. McCall, III and Clerk-Treasurer David L. Kinder.

 

President Douglas J. Reiter was not present.

 

CALL TO ORDER:

Vice-President Michael N. Lockhart called the meeting to order at 7:03 P.M.

 

PRAYER:

Offered by Reverend Bob Hauselman, Restoration Christian Church.

 

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:

Offered by all present.

 

PAUL J. RHODES  makes a motion to approve the minutes of the April 23, 2007 Executive Session as written, seconded by Michael J. Hostetler.  4-aye, 0-nay, motion approved.

 

MICHAEL J. HOSTETLER makes a motion to approve the minutes of the April 23, 2007 Special Couctil Meeting as written, seconded by Douglas C. Pixley.  4-aye, 0-nay, motion approved.

 

MICHAEL J. HOSTETLER makes a motion to approve the claims as submitted by the Clerk-Treasurer, seconded by Douglas J. Pixley.  4-aye, 0-nay, motion approved.

 

NATHAN GRIMES submits a renewal request for Tax Abatement for Irvin Johns’ company IRJ,  LLC  located at Lot #9, Sellersburg Industrial Park. 

 

Paul J. Rhodes makes a motion to approve renewal of the tax abatement for IRJ, LLC, seconded by Michael J. Hostetler.  4-aye, 0-nay, motion approved.

 

ARNOLD VEST request a no parking in the cul-de-sac at the north end of Greenwood Road.  The Town Attorney will check local ordinances to determine if this is presently covered and if not will create or amend an ordinance to include it. 

 

WILLIAM P. McCALL, III (Town Attorney):  I have prepared an Ordinance for the use of Credit Card by the Public Works Director and Chief of Police and will present it at the next meeting.

JONAS “JAY” TANNER, (Building Commissioner):  Presents a tax abatement renewal request for Pennington Hardwood, 1015 Progress Way.

 

Paul J. Rhodes makes a motion to approve the tax abatement renewal request, seconded by Douglas C. Pixley.  4-aye, 0-nay, motion approved.

 

TANNER submits a request from Jesse Ballew for renewal of tax abatement for property at 1001 Industrial Blvd.

 

Paul J. Rhodes makes a motion to approve the renewal request, seconded by Douglas C. Pixley.  4-aye, 0-nay, motion approved.

 

WILLIAM P. McCALL, III (Town Attorney) asks about the contract with Mike Ettel as a contract animal control officer.  This contract can be terminated with 30 day notice.

Douglas C. Pixley makes a motion to send Mr. Ettel a termination notice to his contract, seconded by Paul J. Rhodes.  4-aye, 0-nay, motion approved and contact to be terminate

June 15, 2007.

 

Michael J. Hostetler makes a motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Paul J. Rhodes.  4-aye, 0-nay, motion approved and meeting adjourned at 8:10 P.M.
