TOWN COUNCIL MEETING:

The Sellersburg Town Council met on March 26, 2007 at the Sellersburg Town Hall. Present were President Douglas J. Reiter, Vice President Michael N. Lockhart, Council Member Douglas C. Pixley, Council Member Paul J. Rhodes, and Clerk-Treasurer David L. Kinder.

Council Member Michael J. Hostetler and Town Attorney William P. McCall, III were absent.

CALL TO ORDER:

President Douglas J. Reiter called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M.

PRAYER:

Offered by Council Member Michael N. Lockhart.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:

Offered by all present.

PRESIDENT REITER asks if everyone has had a chance to review the minutes of the meeting on March 12, 2007 and if so does anyone care to make a motion to approve the minutes as written?

Paul J. Rhodes makes a motion to approve the minutes as written, seconded by Michael N. Lockhart.   4-aye, 0-nay, motion approved.

PRESIDENT REITER asks if everyone has had a chance to review the minutes for the Workshop Meeting on March 15, 2007 and if so does anyone care to make a motion to approve the minutes as written?

Michael N. Lockhart makes a motion to approve the minutes as written, seconded by Douglas C. Pixley.  4-aye, 0-nay, motion approved.

PRESIDENT REITER asks if everyone has had a chance to review the minutes of the Special Meeting of March 22, 2007 and if so does anyone care to make a motion to approve the minutes as written?

Paul J. Rhodes makes a motion to approve the minutes as written, seconded by Douglas C. Pixley.  4-aye, 0-nay minutes approved.

PRESIDENT REITER asks if everyone has reviewed the claims as submitted by the Clerk-Treasurer’s office and if so does anyone care to make a motion to approve the claims?

Paul J. Rhodes makes a motion to approve the claims as submitted, seconded by Douglas C. Pixley.  4-aye, 0-nay, motion approved.

PRESIDENT REITER presents an invoice from J B Ogle Animal Shelter for contribution towards Animal Shelter for the year 2007.

Paul J. Rhodes makes a motion to pay the J B Ogle invoice of $4,941.00 (four thousand nine hundred forty-one dollars), seconded by Michael N. Lockhart.  4-aye, 0-nay, motion approved.

PAUL J. RHODES makes a motion to adopt Met-Life Insurance Company for employee dental insurance effective April 1, 2007, seconded by Michael N. Lockhart.  4-aye, 0-nay, motion approved. 

MICHAEL N. LOCKHART makes a motion to accept Fort Dearborn Insurance Company for employee short and long-term disability insurance at the rate of twenty-four cents for long-term disability and forty-three cents for short-term disability, seconded by Paul J. Rhodes.  4-aye, 0-nay, motion approved.

JONAS “JAY” TANNER, (Building Commissioner), presents request for tax abatement for property at 3011 Progress Way, Sellersburg.

Michael N. Lockhart makes a motion to approve the tax abatement, seconded by Paul J. Rhodes.  4-aye, 0-nay, motion approved.

MICHAEL N. LOCKHART makes a motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Douglas C. Pixley.  4-aye, 0-nay, motion approved and meeting adjourned at 7:59 P.M.
